You will be aware our year 5/6 children have been working close with Diversity House learning about the role of black soldiers in WWI.
Diversity House approached us recently about organising a two day excursion to The Somme in France in March of next year to visit the war graves; they have very kindly said they will fund the majority of this visit; however a £60 contribution per child would be needed to cover the remaining cost.
It is proposed that four members of staff from St. Michael’s will accompany the children, Mrs Heather, Miss Mercer, Mrs Taylor and Mr Biddlecombe and they will remain with the children for the duration of the trip, along with an expert guide from Anglia Tours.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the children and we are very grateful to Diversity House for their commitment to St. Michael’s and proposing the trip for us.

Year 6 Parent Letter to follow
Primary school children do not generally have the opportunity to travel overseas, therefore we believe this is a wonderful experience that the children will remember from the rest of their lives.
Our intention is to provide the children with a space on the website so they can evidence their learning, in the form of journal entries, facts, photographs, video and narratives.
